Veronica obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Dental Hygiene at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the only institution in North Carolina offering a Bachelor’s degree program in Dental Hygiene. Says, Veronica, “Having a Bachelor’s degree, compared to an associates degree, provides me with a stronger background in biology and chemistry while also giving me expanded knowledge and skills in the dental hygiene practice.”
Veronica is passionate about education and attends continuing education courses to stay current. She has attended “Caring for the Special Needs Patient,” “How to Stay Out of Dental Jail,” and “Nutrition and Gingival Health” all of which were sponsored by the North Carolina Dental Hygiene Association.
As passionate about her work as she is about staying educated, Veronica says, “Dental hygienists do so much more than just clean your teeth by removing plaque and calculus from above and below your gums. As a dental hygienist, I take into account the entire person, not just the mouth!
It is our goal to educate our patients on the proper oral hygiene techniques tailored to them, promoting healthy teeth and gums. Also, counseling patients on the importance of good nutrition to promote optimal oral health and ultimately good overall health.I truly love every aspect of my job and look forward to coming to the office everyday. I am one small piece of an outstanding team. I believe I have the best doctors and co-workers.”
Veronica was recently married to her sweetheart, Josh Strickland. Together they attend Grays Chapel Methodist Church in Franklinville and enjoy many outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Veronica is a member of the North Carolina Dental Hygiene Association and the local YMCA.
